子桑戶、孟子反、子琴張 These names seem allegorical though their exact significance is unclear. They may bear some relation to elements of the following story. After Mulberry-home's death, one of the remaining friends (presumably Great-Zither) plays the zither while the other (by default Anti-Mencius) plaits frames for silkworms, which were fed with mulberry leaves. The phrase "Mulberry-home" connotes poverty, since the wood was cheap and plentiful, while the sense of "home" is in keeping with the Friends' interpretation of Mulberry-home's ultimate fate. This would leave Mengzifan as the only character whose name is not directly echoed later unless we interpret it as meaning "Anti-Mencius," in which case it is reflected in his disregard of the funeral rituals held in such high esteem by the Confucians such as Mencius. If so, then the name of this character is the only direct reference to Mencius in the Inner Chapters, or anywhere else in Zhuangzi.
Mr Mulberry-home may return in 6.10 and 20.05.
