Variants of this tree, the 椿 chūn, Ailanthus altissima, Tree of Heaven, infamous for its foul smell, are going to reappear. The name of the tree, 椿 chūn, is also cognate with and pronounced the same as the word for spring, 春 chūn, so there may be a joke on it's having a big spring and fall.
